Last night, we had the pleasure of serving a dish any passionate foodie would appreciate: a Fras Gras Poutine. It was our first off-menu item and we were pleased to see that it was well received by everyone. The dish sold out in a matter of a few hours!

The Fras Gras Poutine was only a precursor and peak to what’s to come in the near future. From now on, Little Chef Counter will dedicate an on-going secret menu to our beloved South Bay foodies (we know you’re out there.)

Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to see what we’ll have next week as we’ll no longer announce it via twitter or FB. Of course we’ll still have our occasional Little Chef Spotlight dishes, but our secret menu item will certainly have your mouth watering for days.

As a seasonal bistro, we would like to announce that we will be changing our menu bi-weekly based on what’s in season and what is readily available to us. We strive to keep our prices competitive without compromising our quality and presentation.

To start, let’s talk about what we’re taking off…

We got word a week ago from our seafood purveyor that fresh cod will be a little scarce for the next month or so… Our beloved fish&chips will unfortunately have to be put on hold. We apologize! We could always purchase the frozen stuff… but we wouldn’t be Little Chef Counter if we did. So we’re taking if off the menu. But we’re replacing it with some delicious -

Duck Fried: Chicken Sandwich/ Chicken Strips (not pictured)/ and Crispy Chicken Salad -

Another fan favorite that’s going off the menu is our Crispy Duck Risotto and our Duck Confit Sandwich. But I’m sure all our duck confit lovers will appreciate what we’re replacing the risotto with. I’ll let the picture explain -

In our never-ending quest to satisfy your hunger, our latest menu item is a great addition to our salads.

In this week’s Little Chef Spotlight, we are highlighting a new menu item, our Green Papaya Duck Salad.

The Green Papaya Duck Salad is a complex salad comprised of soy, mints, sweet blood oranges, and duck confit on a bed of fresh lettuce. If it wasn’t flavorful enough, we top the salad off with “duck chips” or crispy bits of duck skin.

It’s the perfect combination of fresh greens and a hearty meal.

What is Californian-style Cuisine?

Little Chef Counter is described as a Californian-Style Bistro, but a common question we get is “What is Californian-style Cuisine?”

As a restaurant, California could not be a better place. California stretches over 150,000 square miles of land and 850 miles of ocean coast. As a result, we are blessed to have access to all sorts of ingredients and spices. Unlike the majority of the world, California experiences all four seasons, giving us access to a  variety of fresh produce.

California is a melting pot of diversity and an abundance of personality. Our produce is as diverse as our population. We are exposed to an assortment of flavors, spices and different cuisines daily. Our team at Little Chef Counter hope to cultivate all that California has to offer and turn them into delicious menu items for everyone.

Our #1 goal is to provide fresh quality food without the fine-dining price-tag. We do this by offering a “seasonal” menu which will display all that California has to offer. Our seasonal inspired menu will consistently revolve to reflect what is available seasonally as well as locally.

The last few months have been a combination of happiness, excitement, anticipation, and stress culminating into a pleasantly surprising nerve-wrecking emotional roller-coaster. Opening a business let alone a restaurant is no small task so we greatly appreciate everyone’s unwavering support and commitment to Little Chef Counter. We’ve had numerous tastings, started some training’s and we can’t wait to get this ball rolling to start serving up some deliciousness and satisfying some cravings.

From day 1 our goal has been to provide a fine-dining experience through our menu but without the pretentious price-tag. We provide fine-dining catering services for both in-home events as well as large venue events.
